Situated in Tuanjie Village, Shapingba District, Chongqing Railway Port was temporarily open for external businesses upon the approval of National Port Administrative Office on Dec. 25, 2013. It is a new move for further opening-up of inland China and brings a major strategic opportunity for Chongqing to become the highland of inland opening-up.
A port operation area of 500,000 square meters and a comprehensive bonded area of 3 square kilometers are planned to be built in Chongqing Railway Port. The port operation area mainly consists of common foreign-trade cargo zone, finished vehicle and other designated operation zone, test & repair zone, customs supervision warehouse & storage zone, bonded exhibition & trade zone and supporting service zone etc.
Chongqing Railway Port strives to reach the railway trade volume of RMB 100 billion Yuan in five years and RMB 200 billion Yuan in ten years. The goal will be achieved in three steps. Step I, improve the infrastructure. By the end of 2015, the importance shall have been laid on the construction of the finished vehicle port and the bonded logistics center (zone A); Step II, expand the functions of the port. By the end of 2020, the supporting facilities of the railway port shall have been further perfected, and the focus shall have been placed on the construction of the plant seedling port, the international mail operation zone and the bonded logistics center (zone B); Step III, develop the port economy. By 2025, an industrial chain for import and export commodities shall have been created to offer relevant services as logistics, warehousing, processing, exhibition, transaction, testing and maintenance, so as to achieve the joint development of Chongqing Western Logistic Park, Xiyong Bonded Zone and the surrounding industries. The volume of imported and exported goods handled by the railway port shall reach 200,000 TEU; the value of goods shall reach RMB 200 billion Yuan.
